In Memory of Bill Tivers
A leader in the fur industry for 60 years, Mr. William D. Tivers, a long-time AFIC member and proprietor of Marmor and Tivers Furs, passed away on October 20, 2001 at the age of 83. Mr. Tivers was actively engaged in the design, manufacture, and sales of fur coats. He was also an Instructor at the Art Institute teaching fur design and also hosted several design seminars for AFIC members and their staff. In addition, in honor of his dedication to the fur industry, the AFIC named Mr. Tivers Man of the Year on three occasions.
In honor of Mr. Tivers and his leadership role in the design and manufacture of furs, the AFIC has created the Bill Tivers Memorial Scholarship Fund. AFIC funds will be utilized to provide instruction in the design and manufacture of leather and fur garments. Scholarships will be awarded to senior design students in the Chicagoland area. Contributions to this worthwhile endeavor may be made to the AFIC-Bill Tivers Memorial Scholarship Fund. For more information, contact AFIC Executive Director, Karen Lyp, at 630-279-1931.
